Description

1. Product Description

The Locus Reflex Level Gauge is a highly reliable level measuring instrument designed to provide direct visual indication of liquid levels in pressurized and non-pressurized vessels. The specially designed reflex glass uses prism technology to differentiate liquid and vapor phases, allowing clear visibility even in challenging conditions.

3. Working

The reflex level gauge works on the principle of light refraction and reflection. The specially designed prism glass reflects light from the vapor space and absorbs it in the liquid space. As a result:

    • Liquid appears black or dark-colored.
    • Vapor/empty space appears silvery or bright.

4. Principle

Reflex glasses use optical prisms on the inner face of the glass. When light enters the gauge:

    • In vapor zones, light reflects backβ€”creating a bright appearance.
    • In liquid zones, light is absorbedβ€”appearing dark.
This contrast allows easy visual level detection without external lighting.

5. Assembly

  • Reflex glass is housed in a rigid metal body with cushion gaskets.
  • Glass is mounted between the body and cover plate with bolts.
  • Drain and vent valves are connected at the top and bottom.
  • Flange connections are mounted directly to the tank.

6. Installation Process

  1. Ensure both tank flanges are aligned and clean.
  2. Mount the gauge with appropriate gaskets and tighten the bolts diagonally.
  3. Connect drain and vent valves securely.
  4. Check for leakage by applying hydraulic test (optional).
  5. Slowly open the tank valve and observe level reading.

10. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q1. Can Locus Reflex Level Gauges be used in corrosive liquids?
βœ… Yes. Locus offers SS316 / PTFE-lined body options for corrosive applications.

Q2. What is the maximum pressure and temperature it can handle?
πŸ‘‰ Up to 50 bar pressure and 400Β°C temperature with proper material selection.

Q3. What is the difference between Transparent and Reflex Level Gauges?
πŸ”Ή Transparent uses two glasses; Reflex uses a single prism glass. Reflex provides better readability.

Q4. Can we install this in horizontal tanks?
⚠️ No. Reflex Level Gauges are designed for vertical tank installation only.

Q5. Does it require power supply?
❌ No. It’s mechanicalβ€”does not need any electrical supply.

11. Applications

  • πŸ›’οΈ Petrochemical Plants – for fuel and oil tank level monitoring
  • βš—οΈ Chemical Processing – corrosive and non-corrosive fluid level indication
  • 🌊 Water Treatment Plants – for monitoring clean and wastewater tanks
  • 🏭 Power Plants – level control in steam boilers
  • 🚒 Marine Applications – tank level monitoring on ships
  • πŸ₯ Pharmaceutical & Food (with SS316) – cleanroom liquid tanks
